CONTEXT

Under the overall supervision of the WFP Country Office as convening agency and direct supervision of the National Programme Support Officer/Head of Cotabato Field Office in Cotabato City, the successful candidate will support in coordination, reporting, consolidation of UN agencies implementation result, and secretariat of the project steering committee in coordination with UNJP implementing agencies, UNRCO and BARMM government. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for ensuring that implementing UN agency (WFP, UNDP, FAO and IOM) will submit timely project updates and participation in the Project steering committee.

JOB PURPOSE

To deliver a wide range of business support processes and activities for a specific professional area of work, to facilitate effective service delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The Programme Assistant (Coordination) will provide support in :

  • acting as a UNJP secretariat, convening meetings, preparing and disseminating minutes in consultation and coordination with Participating UN Organizations (PUNO);
  • facilitating communication and coordination amongst the government, the Resident Coordinators Office, UN agencies and with the Steering Committee on the progress of the project and regular reporting;
  • monitoring fund administrative issues in coordination with the Participating UN Organizations (PUNOs) and Administrative Agent.
  • consolidating annual and final narrative reports based on the inputs provided from PUNOs;
  • providing logistical and operational support to the Steering Committee, PUNOs, Technical Working Group;

  • Perform other duties that may be assigned

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• University degree in International Development, International Studies, Migration Studies, Political Science, Social Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Communications, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum four years of relevant professional experience.

• Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work.

• Experience in humanitarian and peace building programmes and capacity-building activities is an asset.

• Experience in working with UN agencies and/or NGOs is preferable.

• Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with national and international institutions.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge and understanding of Mindanao context is an advantage. Language:

General Service (Field): Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
