You have:
- A High school Diploma is required.
- A bachelor's degree in Environment-related Studies, Statistics, Natural Resource Management, Economics, Law, Project Management or other related field is desirable.
- Supplementary training in Data Analytics or Information Technology or related areas is desirable.
- A minimum of three (3) years or one (1) year with master's degree in related field of relevant work experience in environmental affairs, data and project management is required.
- Experience in data analytics is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Result of Service
- Assist in Strategic Planning Documents: Comprehensive completion of the Subprogramme Strategic Planning processes, including the Medium-Term Strategy (MTS), Programme of Work (PoW)d, and Programme Budget Fascicles, with accurate budgets, performance reports, and variance analyses. 2. Optimize Work Program and Budget: A well-developed work program and budget for the unit, with clear resource allocations and improved financial management strategies, facilitating streamlined resource mobilization for the subprogramme. 3. Assist in Enhancing Subprogramme Functions: Strengthened foundational functions of the subprogramme, enabling effective delivery of multiple outcomes across UNEP’s thematic subprogrammes, supported by robust data analysis and trend identification. 4. Support Data-Driven Decision Support: Development of reports, dashboards, and visualization tools that effectively summarize key findings and data analysis, providing actionable insights to management for informed decision-making and strategic planning. 5. Support in Knowledge Management and Compliance: Implementation of a comprehensive knowledge management strategy, ensuring efficient acquisition, organization, and sharing of information, and adherence to UNEP’s Monitoring and Reporting policy, including effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning practices.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP's Policy and Programme Division performs strategic planning, coordination, and monitoring of UNEP's programmes as well as coordinates UNEP's engagement with the wider UN system and global processes. Under the overall supervision of the Global Environmental Governance Subprogramme Coordinator, the Individual Contractor will undertake the following: a. Assist in the finalization of the Subprogramme strategic planning processes that result in the MTS, PoW and Programme Budget Fascicles, including through the review of budgets, performance reports, analysing variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures. b. Assist in developing the Subprogramme’s work program and budget; analyse input and formulate resource allocations by work program, or business processes for streamlined Subprogramme resource mobilization and financial management. c. Support the Global Subprogramme Coordinator to enhance the foundational functions of the Subprogramme towards multiple outcomes for the three UNEP thematic Subprogrammes. d. Acquire, clean and analyse data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems, to help streamline the coherent implementation of the objective of UNEP’s Environmental Governance Subprogramme, including but not limited to the results emanating from the Subprogramme project portfolio. e. Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns on Environmental Governance at the Regional and Global level that help design the work of UNEP’s Environmental Governance Subprogramme using statistical methods to identify relevant features and variables in structured sources of information and data. f. Develop reports, dashboards, or other tools to effectively summarize findings and convey information to management for efficient and timely decision making. g. Assist in the exploration, identification, and acquisition of data sources to determine their suitability for use in decision making and advancing the implementation of the objective of UNEP’s Environmental Governance Subprogramme. h. Contribute to the design and develop customized visualization and presentation products to reveal the findings of analysis for clients, suitable for all forms of production to include briefings, reports, documentation to the management and other relevant oversight bodies.
