This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The incumbent will work as a programme assistant in support of the UAE desk officer hosted in the EMRO office in Cairo, Egypt. This UNV assignment is part of [WHO/EMRO’s] project/flagship programming initiative. The World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for public health within the United Nations system. The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean is one of WHO’s 6 regional offices around the world. It serves the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, which comprises 21 Member States and occupied Palestinian territory (including East Jerusalem), with a population of nearly 745 million people. WHO has an ambitious vision to guide our work in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, plus a strategy and monitoring mechanisms to help us achieve it. • Assist in the preparation of administrative work concerning the implementation of technical programmes • Follow up on the technical requests from Member States and ensure timely response • Assist in the coordination and management of technical programme planning and budgeting as well as implementation • Coordinate the preparation of technical meetings related to health priority areas • Liaise with the national counterparts for the implementation of the joint programme of work activities • Collaborate with the other WHO technical units in the preparation of country missions • Assist in the preparation of advocacy and communication material that aims to raise awareness and promote better health and well-being
