This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

  1. Carry out interviews with vulnerable migrants to determine their eligibility at IOM office or other premises (such as the Egyptian Immigration Office, detention facilities, home visits and Alexandria etc.).
  2. Provide case management to eligible cases, including victim of trafficking and the survivors of Sexual and Gender based violence.
  3. Provide insights and comments on existing and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to PxD unit.
  4. Act as a focal point for coordination with embassies, IOM internal units and other missions for AVRR purposes.
  5. Participate in monthly meetings with UN agencies and external partners to discuss agency updates and provide statistical reports.
  6. Support with tasks related to the assistance and counselling provided to each of the beneficiaries.
  7. Contribute to effective information management through the provision of disaggregated data on migrants and their problems.
  8. Participate in initiatives related to migrants to improve services provided to migrants.
  9. Conduct relevant referrals to other organizations as need.
  10. Assist in organizing trainings and capacity building activities.
  11. Update and validate migrants’ and beneficiaries’ data in IOM databases including MIMOSA daily and assist in compiling and analyzing statistics and profiles on a regular basis.
  12. Ensure the confidentiality of all beneficiaries.
  13. Perform other duties as may be assigned; and undertake duty travels as required.

professional work at the national and/or international level in migration field or experience in dealing with migrants and refugees or other relevant programmes; experience with case management, as is experience working in the UN or other organization. and; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Have affinity with or interest in migration management, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
