Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Team Leader, Ending violence against Women Unit, the national UN Volunteer shall be responsible for

Programme Management Support:

Provide programme and administrative support to EVAW programme in the preparation of programme workplans,budgets and proposals on programme implementation arrangements.

  • Review and monitor the submissions of implementing partner financial and narrative reports.
  • Provide administrative support for the audit of programmes/ projects and support implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Provide support in monitoring and evaluation of the programmes on reporting guidelines and procedures as per UN Women ‘s rules and regulations.
  • Undertake field visits to monitor performance of commitments by implementing partners and ensure programme objectives are met.

Provide administrative support to the financial management of the Evaw programmes

  • Prepare non-PO vouchers for development projects.
  • Process payment for consultants, as delegated.
  • Create requisitions in Atlas for development projects; register good receipts in Atlas.
  • Review to ensure all documents submitted for approval (SSAs, procurement, Tas, agreements etc) are in line with agreed checklists

Programme Administrative support to EVAW unit

  • Provide administrative support to Local Project Appraisal Committee (LPAC) meetings, preparation and review of required documents and follow-ups with programme teams for timely disbursements to partners.
  • Provide administrative and procurement support to the unit: organization of conferences, workshops, missions and create budget for the events.
  • Make travel arrangements as necessary including preparation of travel requisitions and claims.
  • Draft minutes in meetings, as delegated.
  • Support track donor reporting deadlines, AWP, procurement plans, mid-term, and annual reviews.
  • Organize and coordinate filing of correspondences/documents and ensure up to date filing. Maintain both hard copies and electronic copies of office records and reference files.
  • Prepare presentation materials/slides in power point for presentations for meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings in consultation with programme team.

Educational additional comments

Bachelor Degree-Social Sciences-Sociology,Psychology,Gender,Development,International Relations,Community Development or related disciplines

Experience remark

  • Experience in working with programmes under Gender and development is an asset
  • Experience working in the UN system is also desirable
  • Computer skills -Excellent computing and IT skills with full competency of office software packages

Functional competencies:

  • Ability to perform a broad range of activities aimed at effective and efficient functioning of the EVAW’s unit including logistical and programmatic support;
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities;
  • Excellent command of oral and written English.

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
