You have:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in international development, ideally focused on livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion.
- Strong background in international development, livelihood programming, gender and youth development, monitoring and evaluation, or other relevant areas of development assistance.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively and harmoniously in multicultural and diverse team settings.
Contract

The UN Volunteer will support the UNFPA Country Office in the integration of livelihood/ entrepreneurship interventions under the Gender and Social Norms programmes. Working in close collaboration with the Country Office team and relevant thematic units, the Volunteer will contribute to the development of a comprehensive livelihood strategy/framework and support the design and implementation of programmes that embed livelihood components within GBV, harmful practices, and SRHR initiatives.
The UN Volunteer will play a key role in coordinating strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, capacity development efforts. In addition, the UN Volunteer will contribute to the development of high-quality advocacy and knowledge documents that integrate livelihood/entrepreneurship interventions in line with UNFPA’s mandates and strategic priorities.
Under the direct supervision of Gender Equality and Social Norms, Programme Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
● Ensure efficient management of UNFPA livelihood and entrepreneurship activities by analyzing relevant social and economic trends and providing high-quality inputs to the formulation and implementation of integrated livelihood and economic inclusion initiatives. ● Develop realistic and results-oriented annual work plans for livelihood-specific interventions, aligned with UNFPA’s strategic priorities and programming procedures. ● Contribute to the design of high-quality livelihood and entrepreneurship projects by integrating lessons learned, best practices, and establishing clear implementation and monitoring mechanisms. ● Support advocacy and resource mobilization by developing evidence-based materials that highlight results, showcase good practices, and demonstrate the impact of livelihood and entrepreneurship initiatives. ● Provide timely and practical support to the innovation team in designing youth-friendly, technology-powered solutions for SRHR and GBV, with a focus on sustainable financing models. ● Promote the effective integration of entrepreneurship components into SRHR, GBV, and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) programmes through strategic planning and coordination. ●Strengthen youth leadership and ensure their meaningful participation in selected UNFPA programmes by supporting inclusive engagement approaches and capacity-building efforts.

The selected candidate will be stationed in Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa offers diverse dining options and cultural experiences. The cost of living in Addis Ababa is generally lower than in Western countries, although imported goods can be expensive. Standard safety precautions are recommended in Addis Ababa. The city enjoys a pleasant climate as it never gets too hot or cold.
UNFPA Ethiopia is in the Congo building of the UNECA compound in Kazanchis, Addis Ababa. The compound offers convenient facilities, including a health clinic, cafeteria, cafes, bank, Ethiopian Airlines office and more. The compound in Kazanchis is surrounded by business buildings, international organizations, restaurants, hotels, and apartments. There are numerous housing options in Kazanchis and nearby areas. Kazanchis is one of the safest areas in the city and is easily accessible from any direction within the city.
