Program Officer

The Role Summary:

The role will support grant acquisition and management of the grant portfolio within SomReP. In collaboration with relevant SomReP Technical Unit (TU) staff and SomReP partners, the holder will support project and proposal development and design for high-value, competitive, complex funding opportunities in line with SomReP and World Vision strategy. The position will support the creation and promotion of strategic alliances and relationships with donors, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and other NGOs for purposes of funding acquisition and resource mobilization. S/he will review monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for submission to donors and Support Offices ensuring high quality as well as donor compliance and satisfaction and will assist in building the capacity of SomReP partners in programming.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or related field; and all listed above
  • 3 years of programming experience in a grant funded humanitarian or development program. Preferably with a consortium and in one or two fragile contexts;
  • Training in humanitarian standards is desirable with specific training in donor requirements e.g. BHA, EU, SDC, DFAT, SIDA etc.;
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize cross-functional teams (technical advisors, field officers, finance, M&E) with right staff at the right time to meet even the tightest deadlines.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships
  • Strong writing skills
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Culturally sensitive in professional and personal life
  • Networking/external engagement skills: proven experience in networking with donors and partners
  • Team player; able to mobilize others and work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal
  • Proposal development skills: a strong writer with demonstrated ability to mobilize cross-functional proposal team.

Working Environment:

  • Office-based with frequent travel to the field.
