This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

This UNV assignment is part of UNICEF Türkiye Office’s EU funded IPA Project entitled “Stronger Civil Society for Stronger Accountability on Child Rights in Türkiye: Improving Monitoring, Engagement and Advocacy at Central and Local Levels which will start on 1 February 2023.” The overall objective to contribute to the advancement of child rights in Türkiye for improved well-being of all children, including the most vulnerable ones. The specific objective of the action is to create the space for dialogue on child rights by empowering. the civil society organizations to better liaise with national institutions, monitor the realization of children rights, influence policy making and increase public support to children rights at all levels, with meaningful participation of children and youth as active agents of change.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Child Protection Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Program assistant will: • Facilitating the processing of contracts for consultants, vendors and external partners that support the office in programme delivery. This includes preparing and filing documents, completing
necessary forms and templates, uploading TOR’s in VISION, and making necessary logistical arrangements. Keeps vendor lists, partners, and consultant rosters up-to-date. • Collecting invoices and filing documents for approval and thereafter processing in VISION • Preparing and maintaining records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation and financial expenditures. • Supporting the management of administrative supplies and office equipment. • Maintaining office calendar and arranging meetings. Taking minutes of meetings and keeping the correspondence of the team well organized. • Providing travel assistance to staff members in section for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organization’s rules and policies. Liaising with relevant travel focal points to ensure that the organization obtains the best service and price for all travel. • Maintaining and updating a system which monitors the absence of staff. • Preparing and maintaining records pertaining to programme planning and development for his/her respective section. • Carrying out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs), and makes amendments and alterations as persecution revisions when necessary. • Supporting capacity development activities, meetings and conferences by making the logistical arrangements, through engaging with facilitators, caterers and hosts; arranging times through liaising with participants over availability; liaising with budget focal points and section over costs and needs; and preparing background materials for participants.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/expected outputs: • As an active UNICEF Türkiye team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high quality support rendered to UNICEF Türkiye and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: • CP Specialist and Officers are supported in maintaining and processing internal and external relevant programme documents, including requisitions, orders, contracts, agreements, payments, liquidations, in regards to all project activities and arrangement of programmatic events and travels. • The CP Officer is supported in coordination of relations with CSOs as well as other Sections (SPADAP) involved in Project implementation process. • Any other related tasks undertaken as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

UNV Entitlements in a Nutshell for National UN Volunteer (Youth ):

• Current Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is USD USD 749.6 (paid in TRY based on UN monthly rates). The VLA will be adjusted each month according to the UNORE USD/TRY exchange rate. This amount is subject to increase in parallel with revision in allowance of local personnel applicable in each year. • 100% health, life and dismemberment coverage by CIGNA. As per UN’s diplomatic mission status, it is not included in National Security Institution’s (SGK) system but can be initiated on private basis. • Entitlement to annual Leave at the rate of 2.5 working days per completed month of volunteer assignment • Entry allowance for covering relocation expenses • Exit allowance upon completion of service • Several learning opportunities
