Org. Setting and Reporting The incumbent of this post reports directly to the Head, Professional Development and Curriculum Unit. S/he is responsible for the professional development and curriculum activities of schools on a regular basis.

Responsibilities (A)Assists in promoting, establishing, and supporting the implementation of professional development programmes in order to disseminate best practices; (B)Contributes to the development, implementation and assessment of curriculum enrichment, and cross cutting curriculum issues including inclusive education, human rights, child wellbeing and gender; (C)Coordinates and provides professional training and curriculum support to relevant stakeholders, develops training materials for programmes/activities by utilizing various research methods and media such as DVD, CD and internet to effectively conduct training to develop stakeholders’ skills; (D)Is responsible for monitoring and assessing the impact of professional development and activities relevant to curricula at the field level and assures that his/her work is consistent with applicable rules and regulations, policies and programmes of UNRWA; (E)Assists the supervisor in the development of the comprehensive professional development and curriculum plan for the field and provides the supervisor with feedback data from training and curricula activities in order to support the implementation of research-based theories and techniques of professional development programmes; (F)Contributes to the professional development and activities relevant to curricula and works collegially with peers to improve his/her practice; (G)Keeps up to date on knowledge and practice in the area of work including the latest research and studies on curriculum enrichment and teacher development by collaborating with local universities, community organizations and NGOs, attending their workshops, meetings and training exercises to gather ideas and develop best practices to incorporate into their training programmes/activities for UNRWA staff; (H)Assists in producing regular reports including an annual field report on professional development and curricula to improve learning; (I)Performs other duties as they may be assigned.

(iii) Ability to provide inspiring, motivating and strategic leadership;

(iv) Understanding of promoting inclusive approaches in professional development programs and curricula enrichment materials;

(v) Ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups and stakeholder;

(vi) Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

(vii) Proven research, problem solving and decision making skills in a teaching/learning context;

(viii) Proficiency in standard Agency computer applications;

(ix) Integrity and positive attitude, and

(x) General knowledge of GAPAR activities, rules and general information about Palestine.

Education A university degree from a university in a school related subject plus at least one year of professional teacher training or a higher diploma. شهادة جامعية من مؤسسة تعليمية معتمدة في احدى المواد التدريسية بالإضافة إلى دبلوم تأهيل تربوي أو دراسات عليا في هذا المجال.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

(A) Advanced degree or diploma in education leadership and management, curricula or teaching methodologies;

(B) Experience in adult training and continuing professional development;

(C) In-depth knowledge and understanding of research and experience in developing, implementing and monitoring professional development programmes including School Based Professional Development approach as well as curricula reforms.

Work Experience At least five years of relevant professional experience of which at least three years as a teacher or as a trainer on issues relevant to education and a minimum of two years experience in an administrative/managerial capacity. - خمس سنوات على الأقل من الخبرة المهنية ذات الصلة متضمنةً ما لا يقل عن ثلاث سنوات خبرة كمدرس أو كمدرب في المواضيع ذات الصلة بالإضافة لسنتين في منصب إداري / إشرافي.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice * Conditions of service: Contract Status: - Fixed term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year of probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need. Monthly basic salary: 838.20USD Grade: 15
