The Nathan Ebanks Foundation will host the 7th National Child and Adolescent Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday, May 27, 2021. This is a flagship initiative of the Nathan Ebanks Foundation to raise awareness of the issues and causes integral to child and adolescent mental health and share resources with parents. Our observation of this year is particularly significant, as the COVID-19 pandemic has been distressing for our children and youth – especially children with disabilities and those who already experience mental health challenges. We will host a virtual Child and Adolescent Mental Health Roundtable event, which will be live-streamed through Zoom to Facebook and YouTube. We are looking for 4 energetic and creative online volunteers with tv/digital event production experience to support the production and management of the event. The tasks include end-to-end digital event production and management, live streaming set-up, guest support, and chat management.

The Nathan Ebanks Foundation (NEF) is a nonprofit organization established by the parent of a child with disabilities to advocate for and support the participation, inclusion, and empowerment of children with disabilities. The NEF has been serving children and families through volunteers for the past 16 years. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, children with disabilities are now at home all of the time and are feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Parents are also struggling to find innovative ways to support the children using distance learning. One significant effect of social distancing for children with disabilities is that they are no longer accessing life-changing therapies such as occupational, speech, and physical therapy. It is designed by and for parents of children with special needs and professionals working successfully with children and families. The objective of the Virtual Child and Adolescent Mental Health Roundtable event is to share tips, tools, strategies, and resources to help parents to strengthen their capacity to support their child's mental health and wellbeing.
