Job Description

Your responsibilities

Are you a Procurement Officer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on the procurement of scholarly publishing services in an international environment? Are you a creative thinker and a problem solver, excited by the idea of building new strategies to help promote open science? Are you a strong communicator, with some experience negotiating in ambiguous situations? If so, we invite you to take part in the activities related to CERN procurement and contribute to our mission.

You will join the Procurement and Industrial Services Group (PI), which is responsible for procuring all supplies and services for the Organization, ensuring that the specified and contractual technical, delivery and performance requirements are met at the lowest possible overall cost whilst achieving balanced industrial returns for CERN Member States and respecting CERN Procurement Rules. You will work on a range of topics with a focus on procurement and contracts for scholarly publishing services.

Your profile

Skills

  • Defining procurement strategies;
  • Drafting of commercial documents for a supply or a service contract;
  • Sourcing new suppliers;
  • Communication and negotiation;
  • Managing and following up commercial aspects of contracts, including critical examination and detailed analysis of commercial offers.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Master's degree in technical field (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 10 February 2025 at 23:59 PM (midnight) CET.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 6287 and 6911 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).

  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
