Assist in procurement data and support activities for the UN.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Procurement data and database support • Support the establishment and maintenance of internal supplier databases, including a potential database for hotels and other frequently used service providers. • Assist in collecting, structuring and updating supplier information, contract references and contact details. • Help ensure data accuracy, consistency and ease of retrieval for procurement operations. 2. Market research and analysis • Conduct market research on suppliers, service providers and relevant sectors to support procurement activities. • Assist in preparing summary notes, comparison tables and background information to support sourcing strategies. • Support benchmarking exercises (e.g. price comparisons, supplier landscape mapping, basic trend analysis). 3. Procurement Network support and coordination • Assist in supporting activities related to the Common Procurement Activities Group (CPAG), including data collection, consolidation and preparation of working documents. • Support the development and organization of a structured query tracking system for procurement-related questions and responses. • Assist in organizing historical records and knowledge resources to improve accessibility and continuity. 4. General procurement support • Assist in preparing basic procurement documentation, spreadsheets and data summaries. • Support internal coordination tasks related to contracts, supplier communications and administrative follow-up. • Perform other procurement-related tasks as required by the supervising staff member in support of the unit’s work programme.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or must have pursued their degree in in procurement, business administration, economics, supply chain management, information management, IT, or a related field. Additional Skills required: • Computer literate in standard software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong skills in Excel (data organization, basic formulas, structured tables) are highly desirable. • Comfortable using collaboration and communication tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, SharePoint). • Familiarity with data organization, database management, or basic data analysis tools is an asset. • Basic IT skills and interest in developing simple tracking tools or structured systems is an advantage. Applicants to the UN Internship programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
