Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Private Sector Development Officer is assigned to the Sri Lanka Resident Mission (SLRM) within the South Asia Department. You will be based at SLRM Office in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

You will report to the Regional Head, Private Sector Development (PSD), SARD, with matrix reporting to Country Director, SLRM and/or designated International Staff.

Your Role

The Private Sector Development Officer will help identify, develop, and implement private sector development activities (PSD) activities in Sri Lanka. PSD activities include: (1) upstream support for (i) strengthening government's capacity for planning and implementing policies and projects to develop the private sector, and (ii) institutional, legislative, and policy reforms to develop enabling environment for private sector; (2) midstream support for (i) market facing advisory and (ii) project preparation; and (3) downstream support for (i) sovereign and non-sovereign financing, and (ii) capital mobilization through co-financing. ADB has identified the PSD shift as one of the four fundamental shifts under the new operating model. To mainstream PSD interventions into ADB's operations and to promote programmatic approach and solutions, SARD PSD team will work with the Sectors Group, Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD), and Office of Markets Development and Public Private Partnership (OMDP).

Additional Information

This opening is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of Sri Lanka.

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 ("Recruitment and Appointment'). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may be renewed for a period of up to three years, or not renewed. There is no limit on the number of renewals. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
