Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position is assigned to the Office of Safeguards (OSFG). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
OSFG was established to implement and monitor ADB's safeguards policy and procedures. It advises and supports ADB management operational departments, and relevant parties, including borrowers/clients in delivering development solutions in compliance with ADB's safeguards policy. The Office of Safeguards has four teams: (i) Policy and Technical Services (OSPT), (ii) Regional Operations Services 1 (OSR1), (iii) Regional Operations Services 2 (OSR2), and (iv) Private Sector/Pacific Operations Services (OSPP).
You will report to the Director and will oversee National Staff and Administrative Staff.
Your Role
As a Principal Safeguard Specialist (Social), you will support the Office of Safeguards (OSFG) in achieving its key result areas for social safeguards, including (i) leading on social safeguard policy related to land acquisition and resettlement; (ii) providing technical advice and support for ADB financed project preparation and implementation; and (iii) developing good practice guidance and supporting capacity development and training for ABB staff, borrowers and clients. You will work within broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients and with supervision for critical tasks.
