This UNV assignment is part of the WHO/EMRO initiative to strengthen primary health care (PHC) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, aiming to achieve Universal Health Coverage and health security through integrated, people-centered health services. The assignment aligns with the Regional Strategic Operational Plan 2025–2028 and regional flagship initiatives.
Under the delegated authority and direct supervision of the Acting Regional Adviser for PHC, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks: - Providing technical support to Member States to enhance primary health care in the Region, in alignment with the PHC operational framework and guided by the EMR Strategic Operational Plan 2025–2028 and regional flagship initiatives. - Contributing to implementing a comprehensive regional survey on the status of PHC across the Region. - Supporting desk reviews and evidence generation on various components of primary health care. - Assisting in capacity-building initiatives within the Access to Health Services (AHS) unit. - Contributing to cross-departmental collaboration to strengthen PHC efforts.

in professional work at the national and/or international level in the above-mentioned areas, or other relevant programmes; experience with primary health care and health service management is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Good skills on conducting surveys, scoping reviews and qualitative analysis and synthesis are desired; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment and a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in providing technical support to EMR countries in line with advancing UHC., volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
