Overview

You have:

  • You have at least a bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, social sciences, law, economics, business administration or a comparable subject.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can present information tailored to the target audience.
  • Your analytical skills enable you to quickly grasp new and complex issues.
  • You have organisational skills, enjoy working in a team and in different subject areas.
  • A sound knowledge of English is essential. Native-level German would be an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of common IT programmes is required.
  • Ideally, you already have experience with the German and/or international development cooperation.
  • Practical experience in developing countries is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Tätigkeitsbereich

Team Europe Democracy (TED) is a global Team Europe Initiative (TEI) to strengthen democracy and human rights worldwide. The initiative is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU) and is part of the GIZ Governance sector programme.

TED is supported by the EU Directorate-General INTPA and 15 Member States. The aim is to establish a strategically coordinated European response to democracy promotion, which is facilitated by the TED Secretariat. The Secretariat is composed of staff from GIZ and the Belgian development agency (Enabel).

The initiative promotes evidence-based European democracy promotion, strengthens networks, disseminates proven approaches and instruments, and supports technical cooperation with partner countries.

Ihre Aufgaben

You will work at the interface between EU ministries, the European Commission and development cooperation implementing agencies, taking on a wide range of diverse tasks. Your responsibilities will include a.o.:

  • internal and external communication to increase the visibility and impact of TED's work and results
  • preparing background information for country engagements (e.g. country analyses, instrument concepts)
  • creating presentations and briefings on democracy-promoting measures
  • participating in multi-stakeholder exchange formats and meetings
  • taking notes and minutes during internal and external meetings

  • You have organisational skills, enjoy working in a team and in different subject areas. You also have good time management skills and the ability to achieve good results even under pressure.
  • Ideally, you already have experience with the German and/or international development cooperation and have prior knowledge of democracy issues. Practical experience in developing countries is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • As we work closely with the EU, a sound knowledge of English is essential. Native-level German would be an asset.
  • You have very good knowledge of common IT programmes
