Overview

Coordinate a campaign to change attitudes towards bats in Georgian communities.

You have:

  • Experience in awareness raising and campaigning for conservation projects is required.
  • Possession of a valid work permit and residency in Georgia is mandatory.
  • Experience in promoting nature conservation through traditional and social media is preferred.
  • Publications in the field of raising awareness in nature conservation are desirable, with references if available.
  • Good command of English and basic knowledge of Georgian language is required; other regional languages of South Caucasus will be an asset.

Result of Service

Positive changes of attitude towards bats should be achieved in the target groups and local communities in the Republic of Georgia. An illustrated booklet about importance of bat conservation should be published in Georgian and translated into English for further dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidtate will coordinate a campaign for changing attitudes toward bats in local Georgian communities (with focus on those around critical bat habitats). The campaign should be aimed at overcoming prejudice and superstitions against bats, understanding the role of bats in nature and ecosystems, raising public awareness of the complex connections between agro and ecosystems, knowledge of bat-friendly agricultural practices, and measures to protect bat natural habitats. The job includes procurement of illustrations for the final publication and recruitment of external experts who might be required for accomplishing the project.

Qualifications/special skills

Do you have experience in awareness raising and campaigning? Do you have a work permit in Georgia and residence in Georgia? Do you have experience in promoting nature conservation in traditional and social media? Publications in the field of raising awareness in the field of nature conservation are desirable. Please provide references to them, if available.

Languages

The candidate should have good command of English language and at least basic knowledge of Georgian, other regional languages of the South Caucasus will be an asset.
