Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions. The internship is with OCHA’s Pooled Fund Management Branch in New York Full-time, Part-time, Hybrid, Remote or In-person. The interns will support a range of functions as it relates to the OCHA-managed Pooled Funds (the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and the Country and Regional Humanitarian Funds), including the preparation of analysis, background materials, talking points, and key messages. They will engage with stakeholders and contribute to the drafting of reports, and briefings, policy guidelines, and official communications for donors and senior management. The Interns will participate in all aspects of the Branch and will be under the general guidance and direct supervision of a supervisor within their designated Unit. Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Interns will be responsible for the following duties: • Prepares or contributes to the preparation of various written reports, documents and communications, e.g. drafts sections of studies, background papers, policy guidelines, briefings, case studies, presentations. • Prepares background information, talking points and key messages related to OCHA’s Pooled Funds for use in OCHA Senior Management briefing materials. • Supports regular outreach and dialogue with key stakeholders including other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, and prepare related background material. • Reviews and provides support to policy issues related to OCHA’s Pooled Funds • Participates in work groups, meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners on oversight and compliance related matters • Supports maintenance of internal databases and updating of contact lists • Performs other duties as required.

Languages
