You have:

- Experience in preparing, editing, and/or translating policy documents and communication products.
- Experience in supporting the organization of events.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Candidates for the UN Internship Programme are required to cover the cost of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duration of the internship is for six (6) months. This internship is UNPAID in person and full-time (35 hours per week), located at the United Nations premises in New York, USA. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate to part-time (20 hours per week) and/or remote. This internship is in the Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Team in the Policy and Best Practices Service (PBPS), Division of Policy, Evaluation and Training (DPET) in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Team is part of the Protection Pillar of the Department of Peace Operations and provides policy, guidance, operational and training support to United Nations Field Missions to enhance their capacity to prevent and respond to conflict-related sexual violence. The Team promotes a coherent and integrated approach to mandate implementation across the Department of Peace Operations, with relevant United Nations entities and external partners working to end conflict-related sexual violence and ensures organizational learning and innovation. The Policy and Best Practices Service (PBPS) is part of the Policy Evaluation and Training Division (DPET) of the Department of Peace Operations. It provides support to both DPO and DOS. The core function of PBPS is to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of peacekeeping operations through the exchange of good practices between missions, the development of guidance material that reflects lessons learned, and thematic policy support in selected areas. PBPS also leads several reform processes. The intern will support the Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Team with the following tasks: • Assist in conducting research on issues related to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence • Conduct Social media monitoring on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Peacekeeping settings • Monitor and report on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence developments at global level • Note taking, analysis and reporting on relevant events (mandate renewals, country specific discussions, etc.) • Support to event planning- online and in-person • Contribute to communications materials on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence for awareness raising • Support to training development and delivery • Assist in the review of various policies, papers and other documents/materials as they relate to the team • Assist in preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points, articles and other materials related to the work of the team • Attend and support taking notes at conferences and meetings as required • Assist in editing, content creation, design and layout for (digital) learning products or translation
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and French is required for the internship. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
