You have:
- Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate program in political sciences or international relations from a UNESCO accredited university.
- Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to UNHCR's work.
- Hold a valid residence/work permit in Belgium if not a national.
- English language proficiency is required.

Candidates who are not nationals of Belgium must hold a valid residence/work permit in Belgium at the time of application.
The Representation for EU Affairs (REUA) collaborates with EU institutions in Brussels on these issues, and works closely with the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) in Malta and Frontex, the EU's external border agency, based in Warsaw. The REUA in Brussels also supports UNHCR’s activities and regional offices in litigation before national and regional courts on legal questions of concern to UNHCR. Support on thematic issues such as trafficking, SGBV, child protection and statelessness in Europe is also provided from Brussels.
General description of internship:
• Provide research assistance on and monitor EU and international policies related to asylum. • Review and analyze media reports. • Provide statistical analysis of refugee and migration trends in Europe. • Assist in the drafting of reports or advocacy documents prepared by UNHCR. • Assist in the preparation of and attend conferences and meetings on topics of relevance to UNHCR at the European Parliament, the European Commission or other organizations or institutions, as necessary; as well as to provide support to follow-up action. • Provide administrative assistance and clerical support as may be required.
In order to be considered eligible for an internship, the following criteria must be fulfilled: • Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme, preferable in political sciences and / or international relations, from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.Standard Job Description
