Duties and Responsibilities

The Intern will be provided with an in-depth orientation and on-going guidance and supervision by the team lead of the Policy and Compliance Monitoring Section. Other team members and CSSD staff will work with the Intern on a day-to-day basis to ensure that the selected the incumbent assimilates and understands his/her duties and responsibilities and performs his/her work with due diligence. The Head of Policy and Compliance Monitoring Section will hold Performance Appraisal sessions with the incumbent at scheduled intervals. Constructive feedback will be provided on how the Intern can improve his/her skills and further development.

The Intern will be responsible for the following duties: • Provide support to the development, re-design and/or the update of Policies (directives, manuals, SOPs, guidelines, instructions) related to Procurement, Property and Asset Management, Transport and Fleet Management, Supply Procedures and Warehouse Management, Logistics and other related areas. • Assist and contribute to the drafting and preparation of periodical and ad hoc statistical reports for agency-wide activities related to Procurement, Property and Asset Management, Transport and Fleet Management, Supply Procedures and Warehouse Management, Logistics and other related areas aiming at enhancing monitoring and compliance. • Provide direct assistance and contribution to presentations, accuracy, completeness and correctness of data available in information systems, platforms and tools used by UNRWA (HQ and field offices) to manage activities related to Procurement, Property and Asset Management, Transport and Fleet Management, Supply Procedures and Warehouse Management, Logistics and other related areas. • Assist the drafting and preparation of a variety of procurement-related documents, contracts, communications, guidelines, instructions, etc. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must be students enrolled in, or have recently completed (i.e. commence internship within one year of graduation date), either a graduate school programme (i.e. second university degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), with major area of study in economics, business administration, supply chain, logistics, international trade or related field. No working experience is required for internship. Any experience in related areas would be an asset.

Languages

Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, including the ability to draft documents in English.

Knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
