Overview

Provide expert guidance on inventory management policies and practices.

You have:

  • BA degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Warehouse and Inventory Management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • International experience, if necessary.

Result of Service

  • Develop guidance documents addressing specific inventory management issues and updated Inventory Management SOPs * Develop training materials and workshops for field offices on best practices in inventory management, * Monthly KPI performance reports assessing field office inventory management, highlighting areas for improvement, and providing recommendations for enhanced efficiency and accountability. The consultant will provide regular progress reports as outlined in the scope of work and adhere to agreed-upon timelines for deliverables. Specific deadlines for outputs will be determined upon signing the contract

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Background: The Central Support Services Division (CSSD) is implementing robust monitoring mechanisms to enhance inventory management efficiency, ensure timely service delivery, and maintain accountability within its logistics and supply chain operations. To support these objectives, a dedicated Policy and Compliance Monitoring Consultant (Inventory Management) is required to provide expert guidance and support to the Policy and Compliance Monitoring Section on inventory management, particularly in emergency situations. 2. Objectives: The primary objectives of the consultant are to: • Oversee and ensure compliance with inventory management policies and procedures across all field offices. • Review and enhance existing inventory management manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure they are efficient and adaptable to both routine and emergency operations. • Track Inventory Issues: Monitor and track slow-moving items, dormant stock, and expired inventory to mitigate excess stock and inventory loss. • Improve Practices in Emergencies: Assist in improving inventory management practices during emergencies, ensuring efficiency in crisis scenarios. • Offer expert guidance to field offices on efficient inventory practices and assist in resolving inventory discrepancies. • Set and Monitor KPIs: Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track inventory management effectiveness and drive improvements in stock movement and accountability. 3. Functional Title, Duty Station, Duration, Project (if applicable) Functional Title: Policy and Compliance Monitoring Consultant (Warehouse and Inventory Management) Duty Station: UNRWA HQA Central Support Services Division / Policy & Compliance Monitoring Section 4. Scope of work The consultant will provide professional advice on managing inventories and support inventory management processes in emergency situations. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Advise on the treatment of inventory losses in transit and in storage locations during emergencies. • Oversee the stocktake process during and after crises, ensuring accurate inventory counts and reporting of losses. • Provide guidance on writing off losses and ensuring proper documentation of unrecorded stock movements due to emergencies. • Assist in guiding field offices on inventory best practices, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with inventory management standards. • Set up and monitor KPIs related to inventory management, generating reports that drive improvements in efficiency and accountability. Specific Outputs/Tasks include but not limited to: 5.
