You have:
- Master’s degree in communications, international relations, political science, commerce, or related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of decarbonization / entertainment industry is required.
- Able to deliver highly complex projects of a global nature efficiently and effectively is required.
- Strong writing stories and proposals that support the work is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
- Ability to think creatively about how to evolve pre-existing programmes to have maximum impact is desirable.

Result of Service
To work with the Playing for the Planet Alliance to provide strategic advice together with the Education, Youth and Advocacy Unit in order to scale up the work of the Alliance. • Deliver the 2024 edition of the Green Game Jam. • Create a research community to support this work in 2024 and 1 partner to deliver on the Jam. • Support the communications and community of the initiative. • Support events delivered by the initiative, with 4 expected in 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of government and the international community for action. UNEP’s Ecosystems Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and capacity development for the implementation of environmental policy and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The Youth, Education and Advocacy Unit oversees the education outreach and a series of youth projects for UNEP at its headquarters in Nairobi. This includes everything from engaging Universities that are part of the Youth and Education Alliance to engaging with partners in the gaming industry and youth movements. The consultant will be located in UNEP/Ecosystems Division, Youth, Education & Advocacy Unit and the incumbent will report to the Chief, Youth, Education and Advocacy Unit The consultant's duties will include the following work: Green Game Jam 2024: Develop and deliver the Green Game Jam for 2024, including: o Secure at least 40 studios to join; o Develop a research plan to support this initiative; o Host an Awards ceremony for 2024. Research: With Alliance members, oversee the research agenda for 2024 which would include: o Host a working group of universities keen to support this. o Secure a research partner for the Green Game Jam Communication and Community: Work with the Alliance members to strengthen their commitment and engagement with the initiative to ensure the following: o Clear benchmarks on quality of commitments. o Regular check-ins on progress. o Ensure that the website is representing the needs of the initiative. Events: Deliver 4 events a year in support of Playing for the Planet.
Qualifications/special skills
Master’s degree in communications, international relations, political science, commerce, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional 2 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of decarbonization / entertainment industry is required. Project management: Able to deliver highly complex projects of a global nature efficiently and effectively is required. Innovation: Ability to think creatively about how to evolve pre-existing programmes to have maximum impact is desirable. Communications: Able to bring a diverse group of individuals and partners together act on a common agenda, web design capability as well as able to write high quality texts and proposals is desirable Project design: A strong track record of designing projects that secure buy-in and generate results is desirable. Writing: Strong writing stories and proposals that support the work is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
