Overview

  • At least two years of relevant experience in strategic planning, programme design, or project management
  • Strong intercultural communication skills and ability to work effectively in diverse environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is an asset
  • Familiarity with the African Union's peace and security framework is desirable

Introduction

In alignment with NORCAP’s mission, we are partnering with the African Union Peace Fund (AUPF), which plays a pivotal role in financing and coordinating peace and security initiatives across the continent. The AUPF supports strategic planning and implementation of projects that advance the African Union’s peace and security agenda.

To support this important work, we are seeking a Planning Officer to join the Peace Fund Secretariat in Addis Ababa. This is a P1-level position reporting to the Peace Fund Director, with a focus on strategic planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

Role and Responsibilities

As the Planning Officer, you will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Support the development, implementation, and review of the AUPF strategic and annual work plans
  • Assist in identifying priority areas for peace and security funding and project development
  • Coordinate planning processes to ensure alignment with AUPF’s strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of initiatives
  • Prepare detailed reports on project plans, progress, and resource allocation
  • Conduct data collection and basic analysis to inform planning and identify trends and opportunities
  • Support the organisation of workshops, meetings, and forums to promote strategic goals
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and partners on planning milestones and project status

Kindly note that this role is with the African Union and is therefore restricted to valid passport-holding nationals of AU member states.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
