The Planning and Reporting Specialist will work to strengthen project management capacities and provide increased support in programmes planning and reporting.

The incumbent will work in close cooperation with management, Programme, Operations and other Teams within the Country Office and Regional Hub.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Planning and Reporting Specialist will undertake the following tasks:

1. Provision of effective advice on projects and programme management capacities strengthening, focusing on the following:

  • Support the timely project management of corporate priorities including coordination, communications, note-taking, documentations and drafting of Country Office reports as required.
  • Advance work on the corporate Project and Programme Management Lifecycle proposed roll-out plan by focusing on implementing key near-term recommendations.
  • Support any other duties, including project and programme management guidance, support and oversight, as required.

2. Facilitates the establishment of a high-quality programme planning and reporting, focusing on the following:

  • Preparation of the Country Programme Document Annual Dialogue co-hosted by UNDP and the Ministry of Development Planning (BAPPENAS);
  • Drafting and finalization of Integrated Work Plan (IWP);
  • Analyse and drafting of the mid-year progress of 2023 Country Operations Business Plan (COBP);
  • Review and analyse key results from Project Assurance Reports (PAR) and Project Implementation Report (PIR-vertical fund)
  • Provide feedback to project evaluation
  • Ensure Country Office results are incorporated to the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF)
  • Support other corporate planning and results reporting exercises as needed.

3. Provision of effective support to the Kalimantan Forest (KalFor) project, focusing on the following:

  • Review of 3 lessons learned articles and 1 publication in English produced by the KalFor project
  • Provide inputs and review of the Project Assurance Report (PAR) 2023 - Semester 1
  • Provide inputs and review to the Annual Report 2022.

Institutional Arrangement

The Planning and Reporting Specialist will report to the Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP CO Indonesia. The expert will also assist the Senior Management and relevant programme managers in the delivery of the stipulated outputs in line with the UNDP Indonesia CO requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • A minimum requirement would be Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Energy, Project Management, Economics, Climate Change and Sustainable Development; and/or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Environment, Energy, Project Management, Economics, Climate Change and Sustainable Development; and/or related field would be an advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years for candidate with Bachelor’s degree or 5 years for candidate with Master’s degree of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of development
  • Experience in in the areas of project management, environment, sustainable development would be essential

Required Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, writing ability and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to conceptualize strategic intervention

Desired Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience working with the Government, development partners, donor agencies, private sector and/or its associations.
  • Experience in development and planning of the projects focused on environment and/or climate change through providing evidence-based policy advice
  • Experience working with United Nations/UNDP’s rules and procedures.
  • Experience in supporting COVID-19 response programmes and initiatives;
  • Relevant international experience, preferably in developing countries
  • Experience in vetting new pipelines concerning climate change; natural resources management; and environmental related issues
  • Experience in formulating development strategies and policies.

Languages:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia would be highly desirable
