Result of Service

After these workshops, (1) participants will be able to explain the health benefits of this exercise (Qigong) and its use for general physical and mental health as well as stress management; (2) participants will be able to perform the movement sequence in a group as well as alone.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare learning material for Qigong 8 Brocades to assist participants in mastering the movement sequences. This should include a one-page history of this practice and guidance on the flow of movements. • Teach for 2 hours in a hybrid format the practice of Qigong for health and stress management to ECA Personnel in Addis Ababa as well as in the sub-regional offices and IDEP; teaching must be hands-on with the instructor demonstrating and explaining the movements. • Provide learning material to participants allowing them to practice the movement sequences on an ongoing basis. Learning material can be in print or video format • Prepare a post-workshop report.

Qualifications/special skills

Any post-secondary education related to teaching, training or to health sciences; Must have completed Qigong studies and practice with a qualified Qigong Master / Instructor; Prior studies of the of the historic background of Qigong 8 Brocades such as Wu Qing Xi’s Five Animal Frolics (taught by Hua Tor, a medical sage of the Tung Han Dynasty), Yi Jin Jing (The Changing Tendon Sutra) and Xi Sui Jing, (Bone Marrow Cleansing Sutra) A minimum of three years' experience of being a Qigong Practitioner Prior teaching experience of Qigong classes to a group of learners

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
