**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Natural Sciences Sector (SC) Duty Station: Paris Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 22/05/2022 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- In the framework of the implementation of UNESCO’s Biodiversity Intersectoral Strategy, the Individual Consultant provide photographic and video coverage of assigned scientific missions to selected Biodiversity-related projects in UNESCO designated sites, i.e., Biosphere Reserves, Global Geoparks and World Heritage Sites, as well as sites connected to Intangible Cultural Heritage elements (the “Assignment”). The Individual Consultant will be recruited for approximately 20 days over the period between April and December 2022, to create a comprehensive multimedia gallery about Biodiversity-related projects on UNESCO designated sites located in 1) Africa, 2) Asia and Pacific (ASPAC), 3) Europe, and 4) Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This will imply conducting field visits alongside project managers and officers and interviewing people directly or indirectly involved in the projects. Ahead of each specific mission, a detail set of instructions on the expectations of the coverage (the “Briefing”) will be provided. The purpose of this assignment is to show the actions taken by UNESCO on its designated sites in contribution to the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Strategy, while providing audio-visual documentation of initiatives and projects funded by the organization and partners. Under the supervision of the Chief of section the Individual Consultant shall: 1. Accompany 4 (four) missions to UNESCO designated sites, to be determined, with the duration of approximately 20 calendar days, on a schedule to be agreed between the Individual Consultant and UNESCO; Long Description ---------------- 1. Produce audio-visual contents related to the mission, that is 1. On the site and its people 1. Landscapes 2. Biodiversity (emblematic and project-related species) 3. Culture (emblematic and project-related cultural expressions) 4. Economy (emblematic and project-related activities) 5. Others (ways people ‘connect’ to nature in leisure activities and others) 6. Designation (elements related to site’s designation, including signs, iconic facilities/monuments, designation-related committees) 2. On the project 1. Field work 2. Visiting and local experts 3. Site managers and workers 4. Other UNESCO officials occasionally on site Long Description ---------------- 1. Outputs per mission should include: 1. A set of 50 photographs, 15-minute video image reel and 2-3 5-minute interviews ‘on the site and its people’ 2. A set of 50 photographs, 15-minute video image reel and 2-3 5-minute interviews ‘on the project’ The contents created will be used on: - Website: general project description, specific initiative description, news; - Reports and publications: of the project and the organisation, among others; - Media packages: video reels and image database for press releases; - Social Media: general project description, specific initiative description, general contents for UN dates/major events, general contents for species; - Events: exhibitions, seminars, workshops, MOOCs, among others. Long Description ---------------- The Individual Consultant shall provide and transmit, under the advice of UNESCO personnel, the audio-visual files (including resized and optimized photographs) no later than 20 working days after the end of each mission. UNESCO shall: 1. Provide a complete information and editorial guidance to the Individual Consultant 2. Facilitate the access of the Individual Consultant to the assigned UNESCO designated site, including all travel costs related to the mission as well as credentials and clearances (if needed) UNESCO and the Individual Consultant will hold non-exclusive rights over the materials produced, provided it is not used for commercial purposes. The Organization is free to adapt and use the materials for other supports. **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- - Demonstrable prior experience in photographing and recording similar projects/activities, with portfolio provided upon request; - Ability to deliver products according to the specified technical requirements; - Fluency in English + French or Spanish.
