Overview

Support disability-related needs and mitigate barriers in the workplace.

You have:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience supporting people with disability in both formal and informal setting.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Result of Service The Personal Assistant will mitigate disability-related barriers within the workplace and support disability-related needs to enable the team member to conduct their job on an equal basis with others.

Expected duration 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities The responsibility of the personal assistant will include supporting any disability-related accommodations as directed by the team member with disability. The personal assistant, as a reasonable accommodation within the workplace, will support with tasks related to personal care, travel to and from the office, work-related travel and other duties as directed by the team member with disability.

The specific tasks the personal assistant will undertake are as follows:

1. Support the team member with disability in travelling to and from the office from the individual home, and as needed, to and from meeting venues, which could include: a. Support travelling by foot, subway, tram, car or taxi.

2. Support with personal care tasks while at the office or within working hours in different venues as directed by the team member with disability a. This could be related to needs at lunch, in the restroom, dressing for the weather, opening doors or navigating the building, and other tasks as directed

3. Support within the office in relation to physical tasks, which could include: a. Typing, organizing folders, reaching for items, or other physically related support needed

4. Support the team member with disability with personal care tasks and physical support needs detailed above during work-related travel (this includes support during international travel and in inaccessible environments)

Qualifications/special skills A minimum of 3 years experience supporting people with disability in both formal and informal setting is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required.
