BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. Around 20,000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.
ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app. Free to download, the award-winning app is a pioneering way for people to join our efforts in creating a world with zero hunger. ShareTheMeal was launched in 2015 as the first pilot of WFP’s Innovation Accelerator, which among other things supports start-ups and innovators in developing their ideas for zero hunger.
ShareTheMeal currently has more than 6,8 million users worldwide, who have shared more than 135 million meals (over US$ 60 million). WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin, is focused on further developing the app to include new and innovative features, and on increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant, reporting to the Head of Marketing for the ShareTheMeal initiative, is expected to:
- Help define the paid media growth strategy, identify opportunities and allocate the budget according to goals
- Support the management of a significant digital media budget optimizing to an ROAS goal globally, across Web and App campaigns
- Implement direct response campaigns through social platforms (Facebook, Google, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.) to drive donations
- Define structured testing plans to improve advertising efficiency and scale for all markets (creatives, landing pages, audiences, bidding, etc.)
- Implement, deliver, monitor, analyze and optimize current campaigns to ensure they meet objectives, together with external agencies
- Evaluate new channels and define launch to increase audiences and countries, such as LinkedIn, Twitch, Video Ad Networks, Native Ads, and others
- Write compelling ad copy for Google Ads and Bing Ads campaigns and regularly optimize keyword bidding strategy.
- Support other activities as required
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Paid media growth strategy is implemented successfully
- Media budget is optimized to a ROAS goal
- Play and App Store presence is optimized through continuous testing
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree is preferred
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in performance marketing. Experience in web and mobile app marketing is essential; additional marketing experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience and knowledge of the latest digital marketing tools and channels (incl. Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, Web tracking, etc.)
- Experience with SEO/SEM strategy
- Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative
- Experience reporting on results and key performance indicators for marketing campaigns.
- Results-driven with an ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and a collaborative spirit, able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy
- Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy
- Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme
Languages:
In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is a plus
