Context and Purpose of the Job

The Office of the Regional Human Resources Manager (RHRM) is planning the roll out of its Performance and Career Management Workshops in 2023 to support the culture change programme in WPRO. The Roster of consultants will support a range of performance management, career development and coaching programmes for WHO Western Pacific Region staff.

Title: Coach - Consultant Section: Performance Management and Career Development Duration: 11.5 months (subject to one extension) Type of Contract: Individual Consultant (STC) Supervisor(s): Regional Human Resources Manager Location: WHO Western Pacific Region – Regional Office and Country Office Duty Stations

COACHING

Topics may include but are not limited to: Identifying specific areas for growth, 360 debriefs, general coaching, creating goals that are mutually agreed upon and measurable, outlining next steps (timeline and resources), reviewing written applications, conducting mock interviews and guiding staff members through the job search/career transitions, performance coaching through a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

The projects will involve a combination of the following, based on consultant background and needs expressed by WHO-WPRO staff and HR Focal points.

WORKSHOPS

Support the design and deliver interventions for capacity building in various areas of work to support, Performance Management, Career Management and support, integration of the competency framework or train the trainer workshops.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: There are no expectations of international travel. Role will be remote.

DELIVERABLES may include the following: 1) Design training material, slides workbooks, user guides to accompany workshops as required 2) Support a staff member through a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) with guided coaching interventions. 3) Deliver workshops and webinars in performance management, career management, facilitate team retreats or deliver a Training of Trainers workshops 4) Submission of a monthly invoice by the last day of each month

Education, Qualifications and Requirements of Successful Candidate

a) Education

  • Post Graduate degree in Human Resources Management, Education, Business Administration, International Relations, or a relevant field
  • Certificate in coaching from the ICF or other recognized coach training institution
  • The individual should be highly proficient in a range of PC/web applications, including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and SharePoint.

b) Work experience

  • A minimum of 5 years post qualifying experience of delivering coaching at various levels
  • Expertise in Human Resources, Organizational Development and an understanding of Performance Management, Career Development and Adult Learning methodologies
  • Expertise in designing and developing learning materials/resources/guidelines
  • Experience with, or in, multilateral institution, preferably
  • Knowledge of UN common practices in HR is an added advantage.

c) Competencies

  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in another UN Language is a significant asset
  • Ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, make conclusions and recommendations
  • Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and meeting results
  • Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility, tact, discretion and confidentiality
  • Works effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changing demands and circumstances
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment
