Brief description of WFP Innovation Accelerator, INNA:

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency fighting hunger. WFP reaches more than 100 million people every day - delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with smallholder farmers, communities, and governments to improve nutrition and build resilience.

The WFP Innovation Accelerator was named by Fast Company as Most Innovative Non-Profit Organization 2021 for its work in identifying, nurturing, and scaling disruptive start-ups and innovations to end global hunger. Based in Munich, Germany, the Innovation Accelerator provides WFP employees and start-ups with funding, hands-on support, and access to WFP’s global operations. Through the Accelerator, WFP is leveraging unprecedented advances in digital innovation - such as mobile technology, artificial intelligence, and blockchain - and new business models to transform the way it serves vulnerable communities across the world. In 2023, Accelerator supported innovations that positively impacted the lives of more than 60.7 million people globally. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The incumbent, reporting to the Head of People, is expected to:

1. Drive forward core Accelerator talent activities:

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding, successfully scaling the teams, and ensuring the best-fit hires while maintaining a focus on diversity and inclusion.
  • Manage your hiring teams independently and act as a consultant and coach on all recruiting topics. Accompany the implementation of innovative recruiting concepts.
  • Nurture innovation ecosystems by fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support learning and development activities by working closely with leadership to understand business requirements and individual needs to deliver development solutions that equip our teams with the capabilities and knowledge required to meet current and future needs.
  • Liaise with headquarters on people-related matters, e.g., contracts, and provide necessary information to enable timely HR services.
  • Provide advice on diverse HR processes and rules and facilitate relevant action as applicable.
  • Support relevant stakeholders on People topics discussions, such as recruitment strategy, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and growth opportunities.
  • Create best practices and templates for People activities, as needed.

2. Support the innovation accelerator build-up, operations & management:

  • Collate information and provide analysis & content preparation for corporate priority topics and executive management meetings.
  • Liaise with colleagues in other divisions (mainly HR unit) or external stakeholders as needed.
  • Support core processes of the Innovation Accelerator (e.g. innovation challenge; innovation bootcamps; sprint programme; thought leadership; scale-up enablement) as required.
  • Support the Head of Business Development, the Head of the Innovation Accelerator, the Director Innovation Division with any other activities as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in human resources in international development, business or start-up-related position.

Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is considered advantageous.

REQUIRED SKILLS | WFP COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in a large organization (public or private sector).
  • Proven experience in handling HR processes and concepts, including learning and development activities, preferably in complex international environments.
  • Self-driven and very strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong conceptual thinking to develop new strategies & innovative solutions.
  • Able to interact with a broad range of stakeholders and external audience with maturity and tact.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills, with the ability to write best practice documents, to develop project plans and to write and deliver presentations.
  • Collaborative spirit, able to partner with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Sets high-level of ambition for the project and own work to achieve impact for the hungry people we serve. –
