You have:
- Bachelor's in Peace & Conflict Studies, Political Science, or related field; Master’s is an advantage.
- 3–5 years in peace building, community reconciliation, or conflict resolution; experience in conflict/post-conflict zones preferred.
- Fluent in English; Arabic/local language skills are an asset.
- Deep understanding of conflict dynamics and Do No Harm principles.
- Experience in conflict-sensitive program design.
- Familiarity with community-based participatory approaches and early warning systems.

Purpose of the Job
The Peace building Officer is responsible for developing and implementing context-specific peace building initiatives in Malakal. Working closely with the Peace building Team Leader and field teams, the officer will conduct conflict analysis, support conflict-sensitive programming, and engage communities to strengthen social cohesion. The role includes supporting the UN Peacebuilding Fund project and facilitating linkages with other DRC programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Context and Conflict Management
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly conflict monitoring and analysis.
- Use findings to support conflict-sensitive decisions by field teams.
- Engage communities and facilitate working group meetings to promote social cohesion.
- Monitor community-led violence prevention projects.
2. Training
- Deliver training on conflict sensitivity and analysis to DRC staff and partners.
- Train stakeholders in conflict management and use of conflict monitoring tools.
3. External Representation & Advocacy
- Contribute to joint analysis with humanitarian partners.
- Participate in coordination meetings and clusters to share contextual updates.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s in Peace & Conflict Studies, Political Science, or related field; Master’s is an advantage.
- Experience: 3–5 years in peace building, community reconciliation, or conflict resolution; experience in conflict/post-conflict zones preferred.
