Duties and Responsibilities This position is in the Clinical Governance Section of the Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health, Office of Support Operations, Department of Operational Support. The Clinical Governance team is responsible for development and implementation of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Standards. The incumbent will be reporting to the Senior Medical Officer, Clinical Governance Section.

The Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health provides expert healthcare management and OSH services to all UN secretariat entities (Field missions, Offices Away from Headquarters and Economic Commissions), the New York based agencies funds and programs, as well as providing strategic leadership of whole-of-system medical issues through the UN Medical Directors Network.

The Patient Safety Project Manager is responsible for supporting the organization’s overall goal of becoming a high-reliability organization by facilitating patient safety and quality improvement initiatives designed to reduce error and improve patient outcomes. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Medical Officer, the consultant will: - Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) investigation meetings with appropriate teams for sentinel events and work to assure that corrective actions are proposed in a timely manner. - Develop and track project plans including scope, timelines and milestones for administering a Culture of Safety Survey - Coordinate team meetings, provide timely and thorough documentation of meeting minutes, meeting action items and effective follow through/implementation on action plans. - Assist in the administration of a Culture of Safety Survey to medical facilities through: o Coordinating implementation of mode of survey administration o Testing survey prior to administration o Coordinating and disseminating communication o Developing instructions on survey administration o Coordinating data analysis by organizing and developing reports and graphs - Assist in delivery of Root Cause Analysis and Science of Safety training. - Assist in development and deployment of a Clinical Adverse Event Reporting system. Including project plans (scope, timelines and milestones) - Create annual report summarizing program implementation. Reports and all materials developed by staff members and consultants remain exclusive property of the CGS and United Nations following the consultancy. All work is confidential.

Academic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree Required, preferably in Public Health or Healthcare Administration; CPHQ or PMP Preferred

Experience: - At least 4 years of prior work experience, preferably in healthcare. - Demonstrated experience and skill in project or program management, familiarity with standard PM documentation including gantt charts, timelines, tracking deliverables. - Experience with culture of safety survey, clinical adverse event reporting systems is preferred. - Experience working in international organizations is an asset. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. Prior consulting experience is an asset.

Language: - Languages Required: English required; second UN working language is an asset.
