Overview

Assist in coordinating the Gender and DESCA Unit activities.

You have:

  • Be a student of a Master's in any social science (law, sociology, international relations, political science or related fields); or be a student or have completed the last year of a Bachelor's degree in any social science (law, sociology, international relations, political science or related fields); or have completed, in the last year, a Bachelor's degree in any social science (law, sociology, international relations, political science or related fields).
  • Knowledge of human rights, preferably women's rights and/or indigenous peoples and/or DESCA.
  • Desirable experience in the compilation and analysis of international and national human rights standards, as well as the preparation of technical documents on the subject.
  • Research and synthesis capability, accompanied by excellent spelling and writing.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to assist in the management and organization of events.
  • Respect for the principles and norms of conduct of the United Nations.
  • It is essential to have some form of health insurance or any other health system, with coverage in Mexico City and which is valid during the internship period.
  • The official working language is Spanish, knowledge of English will be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Asistencia a la coordinación de la Unidad de Género y DESCA particularmente en las actividades relacionadas con la intersección de los derechos de las mujeres, el eje de cuidado y de apoyo con especial enfoque en el planeta (defensa del medio ambiente). Apoyar en la investigación, análisis y compilación de estándares internacionales y nacionales de derechos humanos, con particular atención a derechos de las mujeres, desde el ángulo de los conceptos de cuidado y de apoyo y especial énfasis en el planeta (defensa del medio ambiente), desde una perspectiva intercultural. Apoyar en la redacción y revisión de documentos técnicos en materia de derechos humanos con perspectiva de género. Asistir en la planeación y organización de actividades relacionadas con derechos de las mujeres programadas en el segundo y tercer trimestre del año. Asistir en el seguimiento a medios de comunicación y otras fuentes con los temas relacionados al área. Apoyar en la elaboración de comunicaciones y diversos tipos de documentos relativos a las áreas temáticas señaladas.

Qualifications/special skills

Ser estudiante de maestría en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines); o Ser estudiante o haber concluido el último año de licenciatura, en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines); o Haber concluido, en el último año, estudios de licenciatura en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines). Conocimiento de derechos humanos, preferiblemente derechos de las mujeres y/o pueblos indígenas y/o DESCA. Experiencia deseable en la compilación y análisis de estándares internacionales y nacionales de derechos humanos, así como elaboración de documentos técnicos en la materia. Capacidad de investigación y síntesis, acompañada de excelente ortografía y redacción. Capacidad para trabajar en equipo. Capacidad para apoyar en la gestión y organización de eventos. Respeto por los principios y normas de conducta de las Naciones Unidas. Indispensable contar con algún tipo de seguro médico o cualquier otro sistema de salud, con cobertura en la ciudad de México y que esté vigente durante el periodo de la pasantía.
