Overview

Assist in the coordination of the Human Rights Unit and related activities.

You have:

  • Be a master's degree student in a social science (law, sociology, international relations, political science, or related fields).
  • Be a student or have completed the last year of a bachelor's degree in a social science (law, sociology, international relations, political science, or related fields).
  • Basic knowledge of human rights, preferably on disappearance, torture, extrajudicial execution, or related due process and judicial action topics.
  • Basic knowledge on serious human rights violations committed in the country.
  • Knowledge or experience in handling cases or situations of human rights violations.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability for research and synthesis, accompanied by excellent spelling and writing.
  • Must have some form of medical insurance or any other health system, with coverage in Mexico City and valid during the internship period.
  • Interest and sensitivity regarding human rights issues.
  • Respect for the principles and standards of conduct of the United Nations.
  • Fluency in written and verbal Spanish is required. Knowledge of English is desirable.
  • Candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents may require appropriate visa and work authorization.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Asistencia a la coordinación de la Unidad de Violaciones Graves a los Derechos Humanos. •Apoyar en la investigación de diversos temas relacionados con el área. •Asistir en la planeación de agendas, reuniones o eventos relacionados con los temas relacionados a la Unidad. •Realizar seguimiento a medios de comunicación con los temas relacionados a la Unidad. •Apoyar en la elaboración de comunicaciones internas y diversos tipos de documentos relativos a las áreas temáticas señaladas. •Apoyar en otras tareas que sean necesarias para el cumplimiento de los objetivos de la ONU-DH.

Qualifications/special skills

1.Ser estudiante de maestría en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines); o 2.Ser estudiante o haber completado el último año de licenciatura, en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines). Conocimiento de derechos humanos, preferiblemente sobre desaparición de personas, tortura, ejecución extrajudicial o temas relacionados con el debido proceso y la actuación judicial. Conocimientos básicos sobre las graves violaciones a los derechos humanos cometidas en el país. Conocimiento o experiencia en la atención de casos o situaciones de violaciones a derechos humanos. Capacidad para trabajar en equipo. Capacidad de investigación y síntesis, acompañada de excelente ortografía y redacción. Indispensable contar con algún tipo de seguro médico o cualquier otro sistema de salud, con cobertura en la ciudad de México y que esté vigente durante el periodo de la pasantía. Interés y sensibilidad por los temas de derechos humanos. Respeto por los principios y normas de conducta de las Naciones Unidas

Languages

El idioma oficial de trabajo en ONUDH-México es español, se requiere fluencia escrita y verbal. Deseable conocimientos de inglés.
