How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance and supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Partnerships Specialist (P3 TA) will be responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of the office, with a particular focus on large scale opportunities in response to the recently agreed HAC for 2022. This will be achieved through support to donor engagement, donor profiling and elaboration of key products such as proposals and briefing notes, in liaison with other key staff across the agency. In addition, the staff member will be responsible for grant management as well as contributing to donor recognition efforts in support of maintaining and strengthening existing and new government and other large-scale donor funding partnerships.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  1. Assist in delivering against the fundraising targets of the Afghanistan Country Office (CO) and the implementation of the CO Resource Mobilization strategy by participating in the preparation and coordination of funding proposals, concept notes, briefing notes, internal and external analysis and other relevant materials to foster donor engagement.
  2. In collaboration with Public Partnership Division (PPD), provide oversight, technical support and guidance to the country office regarding proposal development and related grant management.
  3. In collaboration with the Communications Section support the implementation of the Afghanistan Country Office visibility and recognition plans and related work plans to support the visibility of UNICEF's role in Afghanistan and to ensure donor visibility/communication materials’ requirements are met.
  4. Ensure timeliness and quality of donor reporting and other donor submissions. This includes gathering of information, consolidation, editing, layout and branding of all required reports on contributions to Afghanistan, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, quality of data and systematic-results based reporting.
  5. Improve systems and processes to monitor grants and performance against key indicators related to contribution management and donor reporting. Ensure compliance with UNICEF standards and guidelines on oversight of CO’s donor reports, including managing a quality assurance system of sampling and feedback.
  6. Identify capacity strengthening needs in the CO for capacity building on resource mobilization; accordingly, design, prepare and implement various trainings or on-site support to CO as deemed appropriate to ensure that the relevant staff have the most up-to-date information on fundraising guidelines and requirements.
  7. Propose and/or undertake action on operational procedures to ensure there are effective work processes as well as a proper and efficient system of managing the records of CO donor submissions.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Advanced university degree in International Development, Public Relations, Business Administration or related discipline.

Work Experience: Five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in fundraising, donor relations, external communications, and / or programme planning and monitoring;

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
