This position is situated in UNICEF’s Supply Division in Copenhagen. Supplies are essential to fulfill children's rights. UNICEF procures and supplies over 5,000 products to address the needs of children supporting UNICEF's ongoing programmatic activities, rapid supply response to emergencies, as well as procuring and supplying through procurement services essential commodities on behalf of governments and other partners in their efforts.

How can you make a difference?

This position is located within the Strategy, Change and Country Support Centre (SCCC). Its purpose is to enable private sector support to UNICEF Supply Division and the Supply Function, which adds real strategic value, is directed to priority areas (with a focus on supply chain activities), and with any risks duly assessed and mitigated. The highest priority area for support in the short-term will be the Access to COVID Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) and COVAX.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Partnership Manager, Strategy, Change and Country Support Centre (SCCC) - and in close liaison with key stakeholders within Supply Division, and in other UNICEF offices and National Committees - the Partnership Officer will:

  1. Contribute to the development of the partnership strategy and focus areas for partnerships in support of the key Supply Division priorities outlined in the new Office Management Plan (OMP). The incumbent will be supporting the needs assessment analysis and consultations across Supply Division, and be supporting the drafting of concept notes capturing supply-related partnership needs (Theory of Change and potential partnership activities) based on consultations with key stakeholders in Supply Division;
  2. Aligned with (1) above, support the development of Supply-related partnerships enabling equitable access to essential supplies;
  3. Manage and help maintain existing Supply-related partnerships, including liaison with external stakeholders; operationalization/coordination of activities, reporting, and coordination of activities related to partnership communication (visibility);
  4. Facilitate the Supply Division processing of contributions-in-kind (CIKs) of programme supplies and transportation services from private and public donors; including as relevant ad hoc support to operationalization of CIK agreements to enable a smooth delivery to country offices, tracking and reporting of CIKs;
  5. Contribute to the development of the new CIK policy and procedure, including inputs to development of training and lessons learned; and
  6. Contribute to partnership reporting, communication and learning exercises on collaboration with the private sector.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Required:

  • An advanced university degree in business administration, political science, international development, public affairs, international relations, communications, law or another related field.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant, progressively responsible professional experience including partnerships, external relations and/or resource mobilization, preferably in an international organization.
  • Experience with, or exposure to, the logistics and transportation industry.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired:

  • Experience with in-kind donations.
  • Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset.
