How can you make a difference?

The United Nations Children’s Fund Jordan Country Office in Amman seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive National Officer for its Partnerships Team. Under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Officer will contribute to implement the country office’s partnerships strategy (2018-2022), through the coordination of high quality field visits with donors, other donor events, and the development of innovative (financial and non-financial) partnerships with the public and private sector.

  1. Oversees the coordination of field visits, missions and special events – including virtual events - with a wide variety of partners and donors;
  2. Develops, maintains and manages partnerships with the private and public sector partners as assigned, in close collaboration with programme sections; maintains contact with the donor focal point in Private Fundraising Partnerships (PFP) Division; designs and produces brief fundraising documents tailored to the needs of the donor partners.
  3. Manages and develops the new and emerging donors portfolio of the country office, ensuring regular review of developments; maintains systematic contact with the respective donor focal points in UNICEF’s HQ (including PFP and PPD divisions); and maintains relations with the donor at a technical level in country as assigned by supervisor.
  4. Design and deliver accurate and timely briefing notes for Management when necessary. Provide inputs for background and briefing notes to the Partnerships, Advocacy and Communication section and other sections, as necessary.
  5. Supports overall efforts on Partnerships, and donor relations, including meeting with prospective new partners and donors and existing donors and partners, preparation of background information materials for meetings/visits of donors and partners, and other special interest groups.
  6. Keeps meticulous records of partner engagement, maintains active links with external stakeholders to do horizon scanning for new partners who are aligned with UNICEF’s mandate and principles – including, but not limited to local and regional prospective partners. Leads efforts to coordinate missions and visits, and provide accurate and timely visibility in close consultation with Communications colleagues (including on site and digital visibility).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: University degree in business administration, public relations, journalism or a related science
  • ****Experience:**** At least two years of professional work experience in the field of development and/or emergency programming with demonstrated experience in reporting, developing partnerships, fundraising, monitoring of programme implementation, and/or communication. Experience from the on-going Syria crisis or from another emergency context with UNICEF, another UN agency, or NGO is highly desirable. Experience and demonstrated networks with the private sector, and establishing partnerships generally, would be valuable also.
  • ****Language:**** Fluency in English and Arabic is required since this post will involve translation on field visits / missions as needed. Knowledge of another UN working language is an asset
