How can you make a difference?

The purpose of this assignment is to support and provide critical capacity in the lead up to Annual Consultations and High Level meetings in Europe. The consultant will also be required to support daily external engagement as well as internal coordination and reporting on grants for the partnership portfolio within the Europe team with a focus on France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Monaco and the Holy See.

Deliverables:

Partner engagement and Advocacy (June):

  • Support preparation (agenda setting, coordination with partners, transport, etc.) and delegation on the ground at three high level meetings and missions in Europe at the end of June.
  • As appropriate act as a focal point for UNICEF’s participation and sponsorship in multilateral events and side events throughout June and July both Europe and New York including the pre-Transforming Education Summit and the High Level Political Forum.
  • Provide political and financial analysis for Briefing Notes, review official correspondence, and coordinate with Permanent Mission to the UN as appropriate.
  • Draft outcome documents from meetings, and disseminate as appropriate.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners throughout.

Resource mobilization (July):

  • Support country, regional and headquarters’ offices in their efforts to mobilize resources and advocate for greater investments for children with portfolio partners by reviewing project proposals and liaising with UNICEF Legal when appropriate.
  • Log all incoming donor contributions from government counterparts and oversee grant creation requests using portals.
  • Oversee timeline donor reporting using UNICEF’s Donor Reporting Portal.
  • Extract financial analytics for briefing notes and produce ad hoc reports using Power BI and VISION.
  • Maintain partner accounts in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform (Salesforce).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Global Studies, Political Studies, International Relations or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in national or international public service related to external relations, resource mobilization, planning, or project management related activities. Experience working with UNICEF or a UN entity would be an asset.
  • Experience working with Salesforce (“UNISON”), Microsoft Excel pivot tables and Power BI are required.
  • Experience using VISION (SAP) required.
  • Experience using FIORI and the Donor Reporting Portal required.
  • Candidates with experience in donor engagement, particularly with the Holy See, Spain and France will be preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required. Some knowledge of French and Spanish is highly desired. Basic understanding of Italian is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese or Russian) or a local language is an asset.

Duty Station:

Remote based with travel to locations based on need.

Insurance information: Consultants and individual contractors are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, all insurance, such as life, health and other forms of insurance, covering the period of their services as they consider appropriate. They are required to certify that they are covered by medical/health insurance.

U.S. Visa information:

All consultants and individual contractors and any family members, who are not United States citizens, regardless of their nationality, must qualify for and obtain a G-4 non-immigrant visa prior to their arrival in New York.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
