ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Partnerships and Business Development Intern will be closely working with the BD team and reports to the Senior Director of strategy and Partnerships. The position will be based in the Washington, DC, metro, working remotely. The position will primarily focus on the following

Research

  • Research on donors and implementing partners across iDE’s existing countries of operation as well as areas of potential expansion.
  • Conduct landscape analysis, including donors’ interests, priorities,and funding trends.
  • Identify and capture business opportunities and populate the opportunity pipeline.
  • Outline how donors fund, a strategy for engagement, and identify key points of contact.
  • Assess market conditions and competitive environment in selected countries to inform geographic expansion strategy
  • Process and condense Information and data gathered in user friendly manner and produce quality and timely reports

Meetings, networking and pre/positioning

  • Attend relevant meetings and represent iDE as requested by the supervisor and produce timely updates and reports.
  • Attend networking events and platforms and position iDE as requested by supervisor and provide timely feedback.
  • Organize meetings with potential donors and partners as requested
  • Ensure relevant meeting notes are taken and shared as needed.

Other BD duties

  • Support proposal processes as requested, including online research and information gathering relevant to the proposal
  • Support in summarizing call for proposals as needed
  • Communicate with BD team, country offices and other teams as needed
  • Support in business pipeline management

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently earned a Master's Degree.
  • Experience in research and analysis
  • Ability to analyze and condense large reports
  • Exposure to the International Development sector, agriculture and WASH sector a plus
  • Fluent in English. Second language in French or Spanish is a plus

  • Comfortable with using Microsoft office and Google Suite. Experience with salesforce is a plus

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Intercultural communication skills
  • Familiarity with US and international bilateral and multilateral funders as well as multinational foundations and corporations, including but not limited to US government, World Bank, UN Agencies, EU, European bi-laterals and Regional Development Banks.
  • Familiarity with working culture of Washington, DC
  • Self-starter and multi-tasker
  • Able to work efficiently respecting deadlines
