JOB PURPOSE

Facilitate the work of senior staff to effectively position WFP with public, private and external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP & Support strategic and technical partnerships in Private Sector within the context of WFP’s Country Strategic Plan for India and to support as required other WFP operations globally.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the direct supervisor of the Country Director, the Partnerships Officer (Private Sector) will maintain and expand private partnerships for WFP’s programme in India (and beyond) through the following functions:

  1. Implement-- the annual workplan for assigned area by delivering activities of the India Country Office Resource Mobilization Strategy.
  2. Proactively contribute to partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling, networking and outreach activities by engaging with stakeholders with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work; Support partner visibility and ensure that partner conditions are met.
  3. Contribute to the management of portfolio of partnerships, soliciting contributions, providing on-going donor stewardship and assessing results in order to maximise resources raised for WFP Country Office and WFP Globally, in line with internal policies and external regulations.
  4. Contribute to strengthen quality partnerships with domestic funders, international financial institutions, bilateral agencies and global private sector partners in order to maximise resources raised for the WFP programme in India.
  5. Use data to present options to managers with well-researched ideas to expand support from existing partners and to scope new partners, guided by programmatic assessment and context-specific analysis, with the aim to enhance the impact of WFP’s work and diversify the resource base.
  6. Solicit inputs, including operational updates, from other WFP entities to facilitate corporate dialogue to inform partner audiences on WFP’s programmatic offering; Draft quality briefs, reports and proactively highlight strategic issues to senior staff to inform best course of action and nurture partnership growth.
  7. Gather and present internal and external data/information, using key information systems (e.g. Salesforce, WINGS, WFPGo), to support WFP’s effective positioning vis-à-vis national governments, regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
  8. In the context of the UN system and multilateral fora, support the development of partnerships and joint events with member states, civil society and intergovernmental organizations to advocate for the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the global agenda and advance WFP priorities and objectives.
  9. Contribute to partnerships strategies, including the development of Partnership Action Plans; Draft key messages/ pitch documents with key asks for global private sector partners.
  10. Contribute to drafting grants proposals, presentations and briefing documents for the Country Director’s meetings with key external decision makers and support as a resource focal point for donors to ensure concerns are adequately considered.
  11. Support managers in the preparation of strategic agreements, joint strategies and MOUs in order to promote the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the national, regional and global agenda and to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP.
  12. Support and contribute in WFP Trust fund activities.
  13. Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance, and monitor defined risks.
  14. Support and grow the country office’s database of donor/prospect contacts.
  15. Other duties as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS****:

Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

  • Min. one or more years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in partnerships roles.
  • Has experience of working/understanding of government strategies.
  • Has exposure to Global donor platforms such as USAID, DFID, Inter agency Donor Group, Global Foundations such as BMGF, and other Philanthropic organizations. International Private Sector exposure with global multinational conglomerates
  • Has experience of working/understanding of International financial institutions.
  • Has participated and assisted in negotiations for contributions and partnership agreements with donors and bilateral/ international governments, in line with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Has developed effective relationships with partners and explored new areas to scale- up existing activities and researched new opportunities.
  • Has supported the resource mobilisation work plan by delivering specific activities as defined.
  • Has the ability to develop and sustain effective collaborative relationships with appropriate stakeholders and contacts including internally.
  • Has prepared briefs in drafting resourcing analysis and collaborated with accurate and timely briefs as well as reporting to donors.

  • Has experience in developing powerful narratives by using data analysis visualization to enable action-oriented discussions with partners.

  • Has prepared briefs to raise resources for operations and collaborated for timely registration, maintenance and update of contributions and forecasts.
  • Has provided technical support and identified opportunities for service delivery excellence to strengthen partnerships.
  • Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment.

Language: Fluency in oral and written communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Hindi is required.
