  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is required for the internship.
  • Candidates are required to cover the costs of travel, including visa, accommodation, health insurance, and other living expenses.
  • Have completed a UN Internship before is requested to provide concrete dates and entity.

Duties and Responsibilities

The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) supports the UN Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team, through the provision of inter-agency coordination support to the UN Country Team (UNCT) and its various inter-agency working mechanisms. Based in Beijing, the RCO China is looking for a motivated Partnership Intern to join the RCO China office. The duration of this internship is six months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Working days will be 5 days a week and 8 hours per day. Under the overall supervision of the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, the Partnership Intern will be responsible for supporting the UN Partnership and Financing Officer in engaging with the government counterparts on issues related to protocol. Duties may include, but are not limited to: The responsibilities of the Partnership Intern include:  Support the organization and coordination of RCO’s major policy dialogues, high-level meetings, workshops, conferences and partnership activities, including logistical arrangements, on-site support, and the preparation of agendas, briefing materials, meeting records, speeches and presentations, etc.  Support the collection, compilation, statistical analysis, and visualization of information on China’s key policies and development priorities – including on China’s international development cooperation, and contribute to analytical reports, briefing papers, presentations, and other knowledge products.  Support stakeholder coordination and engagement with UN entities and external partners, including consolidating inputs, preparing background materials, and facilitating communication.  Support the training activities and high-level UN delegations, including both logistics and substantive support. Ultimate results of service: Partnership-related support to RC/O and UN Country Team in fulfilling their mandates, as elaborated in the UNSDCF 2026-2030 Output/work assignment: Draft analysis documents on the Host Government’s policy including on international development cooperation, financing for development, as well as humanitarian assistance; in addition to meeting notes and reports.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be in, or have completed, the final academic year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), be currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD.
