How can you make a difference?

In 2019, UNICEF Ukraine began scaling up its private sector fundraising efforts and building relations with new and potential business partners in the country. The office is focusing on the leaders of the most promising industries and negotiating strategic partnerships and donations, which involve a substantial workload at the stage of UNICEF screening processes and consequent documentation and filing. With portfolio of potential partners growing, additional support is required to maintain quality relations with business interlocutors and timely facilitation of related contractual agreements.

To support the COVID-19 response in the country, the office is further relying on assistance provided by national and international companies., that provide financial resources and in-kind contributions to support UNICEF programs and supplies Due to the extensive COVID-19 pandemic response interventions being implemented by Programme sections, and new additional activities developed in this context, that require additional support of the Partnership, the Partnership Specialist needs to strengthen partnership capacities with external consultancy. The scope of work for the consultant is linked to the activities related to COVID-19 response in specific sectors and require relevant partnership/communications expertise.

To expend its work with private sector in Ukraine, UNICEF is planning to undertake several new initiatives to diversify potential fundraising channels. These new projects will include partnership with Esports association and piloting of the digital fundraising in the country. Furthermore, Partnership Consultant will be responsible for establishment of the Supervisory Board, which is created to provide a strategic guidance for further partnership activities and targets.

The consultant is expected to support the office with following tasks and deliverables:

  • Overseeing external partners related documentation (contracts, forms, etc.) to ensure that processes are streamlined, effective and assisting the overall aim to grow income.
  • Ensuring donor visibility and recognition, particularly donors supporting COVID-19 response and thematic funding, including documentation and sharing of information with regional office.
  • Coordinating localization of Gaming guidelines in Ukraine and launch of online fundraising platforms
  • Contributing to establishment of Supervisory Board

Under the overall guidance of the Partnership Specialist and in close collaboration with the multifunctional team, the consultant is expected to support the work of the office and contribute to the Resource Mobilization Strategy,

It is expected for the incumbent to work remotely, participation in all meetings and activities to be ensured via online tools.

Tasks/Milestone: Providing donor visibility and recognition, particularly donors supporting COVID-19 response and thematic funding, including documentation and sharing of information with regional office.

Deliverables/Outputs: Publications and reports to all donors, supporting UNICEF Response in 2020. 4 waves (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4)

Deadline/ Number of working days: Wave 1: December 8th (5 days); Wave 2: December 15th (5 days); Wave 3: December 23rd (5 days); Wave 4: December 31st (5 days).

Tasks/Milestone: Supporting the partnership projects, including projects linked related to COVID-19 and Reimagine Campaign.

Deliverables/Outputs: Coordinating the Business Advisory Board launch and outreach to potential members. Supporting adaptation of the Gaming guidelines in close cooperation with esports associations. Overseeing launch and regular update of the Individual giving online platform.

Deadline/ Number of working days: January 25th (15 days); January 31st (5 days); February 28th (10 days)

Tasks/Milestone: Managing external partners’ related documentation (contracts, forms, etc.) to ensure that processes are streamlined, effective and assisting the overall aim to grow income.

Deliverables/Outputs: Managing contracts, filing and archiving to – ensure each partner and donation is supported with the mandatory documentation, set up a filing system with an easy tracking and search for the future records. Due Diligence – finalize and update all the active cases in the system. Legal and financial clearance, follow up with the respective teams to ensure timely responses.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Master’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations, business administration or other discipline related to commerce and business is required.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in areas of partnership, fundraising, marketing and public relations and/or related areas. Understanding of UNICEF approach to building partnerships with private sector, including co-creation and engagement of business partnership in emergency response is an advantage. Knowledge of due diligence procedures might be an asset. Excellent analytical and strategy development skills (1 sample of previous works is required). Proven ability to work independently, tackle demanding goals, time-sensitive and produce timely results and good quality of work. Previous experience with UNICEF and other UN agencies might be an asset.

Language requirements: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
