ABOUT THE JOB

The post of Paramedic refers to an educated nurse or paramedic, with a record of completion at paramedic training course organized by DRC- HDP, Successful conduct in the position requires a disciplined and structured approach to medical procedures and equipment, with a high level of tolerance for stress and eye for basic hygiene. The life of a person within the Team/Section may depend on the actions of the Paramedic.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the assigned medical equipment is complete and serviceable as described in the Medical SOP and the On-Site Requirements SOP.
  • Remain alert and available at all times during the Demining, Survey-, BAC- and EOD activities in the field.
  • Ensure that the safety vehicle is available, capable of evacuating a lying casualty and ready to be used as an ambulance.
  • Maintain at all times a high level of collective hygiene at the work site, within the ambulance and the camp compound.
  • Monitor, treat and follow up the medical status of the deminers/operators and other HMA staff in the field.
  • Inspect the validity of medicine, drugs and equipment in a daily basis.
  • Report any problems or concerns related medical coverage, assigned equipment and medical kits in the operation area to the Team member/Team leader.
  • Perform MEDEVAC exercise at least one per month and re MEDEVAC exercise when start operation in the new location on command by the Team Leader/Section leader.
  • Perform any other task as instructed by the TL.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • One year experience in the mine action program
  • 2 years’ experience as nurse or paramedic positions in the hospital or clinic

Female applicants:

  • Female in DRC who travel for official trips will be allowed to travel with a Moharam and the travel/accommodation cost will be incurred by DRC.
  • Female mothers who work for DRC are eligible for Day Care cost for their children up to the age of 6.

Education/qualifications:

  • High school (Certificate is attached)
  • Assistant MD doctor or Nurse certification (Certificate is attached)

Languages:

  • Pashto and Dari –fluency
  • English – basic
  • Able to use the computer programs such as (DOS. Windows, Word, MS and Excel)
