UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office is looking for consultants to support the implementation of its Child Protection Programme in 14 Pacific Island Countries and Territories. The goal of the programme is to prevent and respond to all forms of child abuse, neglect, exploitation, loss of parental care and other situations harmful to children, through strengthening of multi-sector multi-stakeholder child protection systems.

How can you make a difference?

Consultants will provide technical assistance to Pacific Island Countries and Territories to strengthen their capacity to prevent and respond to child protection concerns in any of the following areas: child protection policies; child protection social services; child protection in education; child protection in health; child protection social and behaviour change (including engagement with communities, faiths, social and other media, adolescents); child protection in emergencies; child protection legislation; birth registration; child justice; social welfare; mental health and psychosocial support.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• An advanced university degree in social work, law, psychology, public health, mental health, behavioral sciences, communication or other social sciences
• At least five or eight years of relevant professional experience depending on the consultancy
• Excellent communication, inter-personal, analytical and writing skills
• Demonstrated training/facilitation skills
• Full English language proficiency

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered staff members under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEFs policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
