You have:
- An interest or background in sustainable food production systems, and curiosity in the circular economy (courses done at University on these topics is sufficient)
- Ability to manage and prioritize a variety of different tasks
- Ability to work with sufficient autonomy including time management
- Proactive and a team player – being flexible and supportive is important in our small and fast-paced team
- Preferably experience assisting in organising meetings and events
- Enjoy conducting research and writing and getting stuck into a specific topic
- Currently pursuing a degree in sustainability/international relations/economics/environmental sciences
- Interns at WRI Europe must be registered in a study program with a Dutch college or university for the full duration of the internship.
About the program:
PACE is a public-private collaboration platform for global leaders and their organizations to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
PACE mobilizes specific leaders and orchestrates targeted recommendations to produce effective circular initiatives. PACE’s focus is on under-served areas and scientifically validated priorities for people, planet and nature. PACE’s emphasis is on improving circularity within critical production systems with enablers for multiple contexts.
Since its inception in 2018, PACE has built an international community of leaders who have exhibited a strong commitment to circularity. We engage with leaders and organizations from business, government and civil society – across sectors and continents – to identify precise leverage points and create lasting systemic change.
Internship Highlight:
This internship provides an opportunity to work with a small yet dynamic team at the nexus of public-private partnerships working to advance the circular economy. Guided by Program Managers, you will assist in managing and delivering programmatic deliverables through the platform via engagement activities within PACE’s community.
You will be able to develop skills highly relevant for next career steps, such as project management and partnership building, as well as the opportunity to conduct research on circular food systems. You will support engagement with a wide variety of public and private stakeholders, building cross-sector/industry/continent partners to facilitate exchange and knowledge sharing.
What you will do:
In this role, you will support PACE’s food program on recapturing resources for circular food production. This program looks specifically at how commonly wasted resources can be used productively and aims to contribute to the re-imagining of wasted materials resulting from food loss and waste. You will mainly provide research support (60%) and project assistance support (40%).

Focus area #1 Research Support (60% )
- Conduct background research and literature reviews on relevant issues pertaining to circular food production
- Support the development of knowledge products such as reports, briefs and slide decks
Focus area #2 Project Assistance Support (40% )
- Assist Program Managers with day-to-day programmatic needs, including writing meeting minutes, correspondence with external partners and meeting coordination and facilitation support
- Assist in content planning and logistics support for events such as program sessions, meetings and stakeholder interviews.

Conditions of the internship:
- This is a 4 to 6-month internship starting on 4 March 2024
- This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home.
- This internship offers a reimbursement of 700 euros per month based on full-time working hours (32 hours per week).
