Purpose of the position:

The learning & development Advisor is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees. This position assesses company-wide developmental need to drive training initiatives, identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance and recognize performance.

Major Responsibilities: (please define in output format – 1-10 things of what you expect to see as a result of this position)

Learning & Development

  • Review WV DRC strategic People Learning and Growth annual plans, liaise with divisions to consolidate data by gathering Information on amount/budget - key learning programs -Bonding Agreements etc…and identify need for changes to the organization’s structure and Teams.
  • Evaluate strategies and annual plans, performance appraisal results and individual development plans (IDPs) as well as Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and liaise with divisions to identify need for learning and development that facilitate the effective execution of business plans.
  • Provide support to WV DRC in conducting specific needs analysis for L&D, designing learning solutions and sourcing service providers required to meet identified needs
  • Advise on learning and development resources available through WV E-Campus – other in-house trainings, locally across the region or at global level
  • Prepare and share annual training calendars and budget
  • Tracking IDPs for Talent Pool members and other staff
  • Tracking PIPs for Low & under Performing staff
  • Provide evaluation reports of locally coordinated learning interventions
  • Monitor & maintain processes and measures for determining the impact of learning and development activities to support required reports and analytics as required to aid decision making.
  • Liaise with the regional People & Culture team to track all global & regional compliance training

Performance Management

  • Manage staff onboarding (orientation) process
  • Provide appraisal support to line managers and ensure SMART goal alignment
  • Lead initiatives to create and enhance awareness and skills amongst managers to adequately drive performance / work plans
  • Organize – coordinate and lead Talent Calibration Process and provide with summary report to the Leadership Team
  • Ensure appraisal compliance across WV DRC
  • Develop and propose Employee Recognition Plan and ensure implementation when approved
  • Track & support performance improvement processes
  • Creation & maintenance and updating of organizations’ organogram as well as for Projets/Grants
  • Manage job/position evaluations in compliance with the region

Coordination Responsibility

  • Review staff development and staff care processes and make recommendations for improvement
  • Remedial action for all L&D initiatives
  • Ensure compliance of all L&D procedures and processes
  • Prepare reports for the partnership and WV DRC Leadership
  • Effectively manage progress of direct reports, effectively linking performance, learning & development to achieve ideal performance
  • Provide technical L&D support to P&C Director and other P&C Team
  • Perform any other tasks as required by the supervisor or organization

Staff Care

  • Coordinate the WV DRC employee wellness program for all employees through enhancement of all aspects of Psychological Safety – Wellness education, Peer Supporting and Staff Care in consultation with Zonal P&Cs
  • Capture Staff Care and Team Building Plans – consildate and report to the P&C Director
  • Develop a National Staff Care / Peer Support Plan based on information and activities received from the zone

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Education – Public Administration etc…)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs
  • Certified professional in learning & performance (CPLP) credentials preferred
  • Excellent communication, management, staff engagement & facilitating skills
  • Strong technical skills with practical experience in conflict resolution
  • Communications, interpersonal, analytical, conflict management, negotiation and networking skills are highly desired
  • Mastery in MS Suit with a bias inn Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Capacity to function well in a team and contribute effectively to team efforts

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based 80%: field 20%
  • Travel: international as required.
