The World Bank Country Office engagement in the country is guided by the current Country Partnership Framework covering the period fiscal year (FY) 17-21, and its goal is to support Kosovo on a path toward more sustainable, export-oriented and inclusive growth, and to provide its citizens more opportunities for a better life. The IDA lending portfolio amounted to US$281 million across eleven projects in the areas of energy, education, agriculture, health, competitiveness, water, the information and communications technology sector, and cadastre reform. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the Emergency COVID-19 project of US$50m was approved in 2020 to support prevention, detection and response to the pandemic threats; and the Competitiveness and Export Readiness project was reprogrammed by reallocating EUR 8.36 million to be channelled as grants to SMEs impacted by crisis.

Under the direct supervision of Senior Operations Officer, the Operations Analyst will support the Country Management Unit as well as social and private sector teams by undertaking the following tasks:

• Contribute under the guidance of the respective team leaders to the finalization of the Kosovo Country Partnership Framework (CPF) FY23-27, the WBG operational strategy for the next four years, through gathering and analyzing comments provided by the counterparts and stakeholders and proofreading the document. • Draft meeting minutes and other records of proceedings as required. • Support the social assistance team with monitoring the implementation of the Kosovo Social Assistance System Reform project, including through following up with the respective Project Implementation Unit on the agreed actions, collecting and processing data required for updating the project results framework. • Support the private sector team with monitoring the implementation of the Kosovo Competitiveness and Export Readiness Project, including through following up with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on the agreed actions and assisting with the results framework update.

Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in conducting information and data research, preparing contributions to strategic or operational frameworks and/or associated briefings, and project monitoring. • Demonstrates basic understanding of World Bank Group organizational structure and its goals as well as of Bank’s development initiatives and policies and practices related to lending and non-lending operations. • Excellent drafting, formulation and reporting skills. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc), social media, and others. • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.

• Kosovo is located in the Balkans mountain range of South Eastern Europe. The climate is continental, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters.
• Houses/Apartments are easily available and generally have electricity and running water. Costs are reasonable, but vary according to location, i.e. city centre or outlying villages. Upon arrival, you will reside in a hotel or apartment until you get permanent housing. The UNV Field Unit can assist in identify suitable housing.
• There is no specific health problems associated with Kosovo, and no vaccines are required prior to arrival. • Foods and dietary needs of all kinds are available in the many supermarkets. There are marketplaces that cater in fruits and vegetables, and bakeries offer some exquisite pastries and breads. Fresh fish and meat are also easily available.
