The WBG Program in Ecuador includes 11 investment operations, 1 policy-based loan and several analytical and advisory services (or non-reimbursable technical assistance). The current program is framed under the Country Partnership Framework for fiscal year (FY) 19-FY23 and a mid-term review (Program Learning Review) will take place in 2022. In a context of increasing needs for program implementation support, the Operations Analyst will support the regular monitoring and evaluation of Bank-funded tasks, the analysis of relevant policy data/dialogues, and the dissemination of lessons learned and analytical products.

Through this assignment, the Operations Analyst will be actively supporting the monitoring and evaluation of the World Bank`s portfolio in Ecuador. Under the direct supervision of the Country Operations/Program Officer, the Operations Analyst will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Assist in the application of WBG instruments and operational policies for Bank-funded tasks

  2. Support WB’s work on development issues, WB policy recommendations for Ecuador, and development challenges in Ecuador

  3. Support the monitoring and quality improvement of WB-funded tasks including monitoring of indicators, trends and risks with the expectation to contribute to recommendations aimed at improving project implementation or poverty alleviation efforts (in any given sector e.g., education, social protection, health etc)

  4. Support the dissemination of project investments results and analytical work. Analysis of quality/quantitative data to prepare user-friendly presentations in Spanish and English (e.g. dashboards for internal dissemination, power point presentations, blogs, etc.)

  5. Support the organization of operational workshops for clients, Brown Bag Lunches and other WB events

  6. Support research of a wide variety of economic, financial, country and/or sector topics, qualitative and quantitative analysis of data using STATA or other tools and methodologies as well as database management

  7. Support coordination and collaborations with UN agencies and development partners

-Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in international development, project management for policy making, social inclusion.
-Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded. -Ability to interpret and present statistical information. -Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective relations within and outside the Bank, and to promote collaboration within the team to meet unit objectives. -Strong analytical and conceptual skills. -Ability to work on a range of assignments and development issues. Ability to adjust to and prioritize a variety of time-sensitive requests. -Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.

Quito is the capital and largest city in Ecuador where the WB Country Office is located, as well as the head offices of international organizations, UN agencies and e. Governmental institutions. Quito is located in the highlands. The city is well connected to other provinces and a direct flight away from capital cities in South America, Spain and France. With one of the highest vaccination rates against Covid-19, the WB Country Office is operating under hybrid model with in-person/home-based work. Both in-person work and field visits take place under a voluntary basis and based on a security clearance.
