In the field of culture, the Office is engaged in the promotion of international conventions in the cultural domain, museums, cultural policy development, conservation of sites and monuments, World Heritage and the promotion of cultural diversity and cultural industries with the participation of youth. In Yemen, the Office is implementing the EU-funded project “Cash for Work: promoting livelihood opportunities for Urban Youth in Yemen”. Project’s activities include emergency urban rehabilitation works, capacity building of cultural heritage stakeholders, and awareness-raising on the importance of safeguarding of cultural heritage in Yemen, support to youth-led cultural programming and networking between youth cultural associations, communication and contents production on the cultural and creative industries. The Project covers four historic cities: Sana’a, Shibam, Zabid and Aden. Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Doha Office, and direct supervision of the Programme Manager (Cultural Development), the intern will provide support in implementing the Cash for Work project in Yemen In general, the intern is expected to perform the following duties: 1. Assist the preparation of written inputs as required (concept notes, progress reports, presentations, press releases, etc.) by conducting desk research and synthesis of information, ensuring editing and harmonization of technical documents and reports; 2. Assist in researching, gathering documentation and stakeholders mapping in Yemen and the region related to cultural programming and youth engagement; 3. Assist in documenting the impact of the project, and more specifically the implementation of small grants by partner associations in Yemen and the transfer of wages to young workers; 4. Assist in drafting and editing communication materials, social media contents and official correspondence for the project; 5. Support preparations for the project’s online and offline activities and events such as helping with necessary logistical arrangements; preparing list of participants for any meetings organized by UNESCO; performing short translations from English to Arabic, or vice versa, as required, etc. 6. Undertake other duties that will be required by the Supervisor or the Director of Office as discussed and needed. Applicants to the internships must meet the following academic requirements at the time of application: • Completed university studies in culture-oriented studies (bachelor's degree or equivalent) at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment; • Enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or Master's degree or equivalent, or higher), at the time of application; or • Have graduated with a university degree (first or second degree as defined above), and must start the internship within one-year of graduation. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** • Languages: Excellent command, both written and spoken, of English. English native speaker would be an asset.
